Located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a little town called, Hume, Virginia, Dawn lives on 5 wooded acres with her daughter, Paige, 2 dogs, Saxon a 8 year old Giant Schnauzer (pictured above), puppy Brieo, a 1year old Ibizan Hound, 2 Parrots, 1 Ferrets, and 3 Siamese Cats.
Boarding guest dogs since 1990, Dawn has quite a following of repeat clients’ that enjoy the peace of mind knowing their dog is staying in a family home atmosphere while they are away for the week-end or on family vacation.

Unlike ‘traditional’ boarding kennels, and ‘other’ facilities where your dog would otherwise stay in a ‘mock’ home setting with a hired sitter, or sit in a kennel run 24 hours a day with little human contact, and virtually no socialization, your canine companion will stay in our home, and enjoy the same comforts similar to your dog’s home experience living with you.
Your pet’s individual care determine rates, not their size. When you board your dog in any other boarding type facility additional services such as, maintenance of training, playtime with other dogs, administering daily medications if needed, and a daily walk on a leash are additional ‘add-on’ services you make arrangements for in advance, and are added to the boarding fee you are already paying for. When you board your dog with Dawn all of these services are ‘included’ in the total boarding fee.
Boarding with Merit Puppy Training’s ‘Second-Home’ service you can be assured that your dog’s needs will be met with first class care by an experienced trainer. If your dog becomes scared of a thunder storm, or requires nightly care, Dawn is there to make sure your pet is safe, comforted, and taken care of in case of unexpected illness because your baby is in our home living as part of the family with our own dogs’.
